It is impossible to have foods with high fats and low calories. This is due to the fact that fats are themselves the carrier of very high caloric value. Therefore if we eat foods with high fat content the caloric content of those foods would also be high. For simple carbohydrates and proteins, the caloric value is only 4, while for fats the caloric value is 9. This clearly indicates that fat foods are high in their caloric content. There are certain foods which contain healthy fats.
They are avocados, olives, and nuts, but in them also, the caloric content is very high. The scientists have been telling the general public to cut down their fat consumption quotient, since it has a very ill effect on the heart, often leading to blockage and stroke. Now, recent scientific discoveries have opened a new door for the people with a craze for fatty foods. Some good fats are the following:
Monounsaturated fat that are extensively found in olive, canola and peanut oils and avocados) and polyunsaturated fat that are available in safflower, sesame, soy, corn and sunflower-seed oils and nuts are beneficial for your heart because they help to reduce the blood cholesterol levels.
Cold-water fish like salmon, albacore tuna, sardines, lake trout, herring and mackerel have a vast collection of polyunsaturated fat called omega-3 fatty acids. They are also good for the body.
Flaxseed and flaxseed oil contain omega 3s. These are the protective substances that have a capacity to prevent artery-clogging LDL and are therefore extremely beneficial for health.
